"I paint and teach alla prima painting from life (model).  I do short demos each day to demonstrate the skills I want the students to develop.  We emphasize gesture, proportion, values, color, composition
and always the careful observation of the model posing, to "paint what
we see not what we know".  However during long model breaks and often after class I discuss the expression of ideas in art by myself and Old Masters, but during the class time with the model posing we are concerned with the development of skills to paint traditional realism."
